SXX – Rock from the Heart of Michigan

Longtime Michigan hard rockers SXX are back in full force, writing fresh material and bringing renewed energy to the stage. With a legacy of electrifying live shows and a growing fanbase, the band continues to evolve while staying true to their guitar-driven roots. Self-releasing multiple albums and performing countless gigs, SXX has built a loyal following the old-school way—through powerful music and passionate performances.

• Shawn Rainer – Drums, Backing Vocals

• Bunky Edwards – Bass, Backing Vocals

• Martin Olguin-Barajas - Electric Guitar

 

SXX’s story began in 1999 when Richard and Shawn joined forces in a local cover band. By 2003, the duo shifted focus to writing original music, officially launching SXX as a hard-hitting original act.  Bunky brought his dynamic bass work and powerful presence to the band in 2018, locking in the rhythm section and rounding out the band’s signature sound.  Martin is the newest member, joining in 2025.  Martin's guitar playing has added a fiery punch, moving the band into the future.

Known for delivering high-energy rock shows with a modern, polished mix, SXX lights up the stage with both fan-favorite originals and crowd-pleasing covers. During the pandemic downtime, the band hit the rehearsal space, expanding their setlist and tightening their live game. The result? A live show that hits harder than ever—blending the band’s original anthems with classic hit radio cuts that connect with new audiences.

Over the years, SXX has shared the stage with national acts including Saving Abel, Jackyl, Alien Ant Farm, L.A. Guns, Steven Adler, Candlebox, King’s X, and many more. They’ve also performed alongside hundreds of Michigan’s finest local and regional bands. Festival highlights include appearances at the Sturgis Toy Run, Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival, Leila Arboretum Music Festival, and Rockapalooza, where they've introduced their brand of hard rock to thousands of new fans.
